We won’t cover every single place, so ask locals or check the Yelp reviews, but if you are here for a weekend, here are a few choices that won’t disappoint. 

Let’s start with some of the restaurants in Lubbock Texas near the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts. Some of our favorite spots in the heart of downtown Lubbock. 

Orlando’s Italian Restaurant

This is the perfect place if you want an Italian garden of goodness. They also offer delivery if you want to stay in on a Saturday night. They are such a great choice and one of my personal favorite restaurants. 

We like stopping by there before going to Buddy Holly Performing Art’s center for some live music because it’s close and the food never disappoints.  We love the friendly staff. 

Orlando’s has been a Lubbock stable for years, definitely worth checking out. 

Pancake House

This is one of Lubbock’s famous breakfast spots. They have been serving their delicious pancakes the whole family will love for over 50 years.

You will find them on Avenue Q. You can great breakfast all day long, but they also have a great lunch and dinner menu.  

What sets Pancake House Lubbock apart is the combination of delectable food and a laid-back atmosphere.

It’s the kind of place where you can linger over your breakfast, sipping coffee and enjoying good company without feeling rushed.

50th Street Caboose

We have yet to have a bad dish there. They have great service and are definitely a local favorite.

If you are visiting Texas Tech University or staying near the University, definitely check them out. The excellent food and friendly service make it a delicious place to eat. 

Sometimes you simply want some Pizza and salad, so we have included that below. There are so many good pizza restaurants in Lubbock.  We picked a few of our favorites, but honestly, there should be just a dedicated post to Lubbock favorites.

Woody’s Brick Oven Pizza

If you are looking for some pizza for dinner or lunch, here’s a Lubbock favorite. They are known for their Chicago style pizza.

Their Italian food is great, but they also serve:  Chicken wings with homemade sauce, amazing burgers and, of course, some queso. 

​They are located in the heart of Tech Terrace on 34th street. It’s a nice place with plenty of parking and, of course, delicious food. It’s the perfect location for lunch before a game or a visit to the campus. 

Dion’s Pizza Lubbock

​This is my dad’s favorite pizza place, so we had to include it.  If you are visiting the hub city and looking for the best pizza, you might want to check out Dion’s.

They have excellent service. It’s the perfect choice if you are craving pizza and salad. 

Their chef salad is delicious, and they create their own homemade ranch dressing, which my nephew could eat the entire bottle of.

We love their affordable prices when feeding an entire family. The dining room definitely gives a laid-back restaurant vibe. 

What if you are heading to a special event and what some fine dining options? Well, how about a few recommendations? Here are a few suggestions Lubbock suggests. 

Las Brias

If you are looking for a hidden gem for special occasions or just want some fine dining, check out Las Brias.

It’s across from HEB grocery store and has an amazing atmosphere. They have great steaks and include featured menu items daily. 

There is a dress code so make sure and check that out before heading there.  Anytime someone posts about them in the LBK Facebook group, there are so many comments on the amazing food.

They have nearly 400 reviews that are all glowing about the freshness of the food. Make sure and make reservations if you can on their Google Business page as they are busy most of the time.  They are super close to the Buddy Holly center.

Triple J Lubbock

Lubbock Craft Beer

There are several places in Lubbock, Texas with craft beer options. Several new places are establishing a presence in the hub city and you should really check this out if you love craft beers. 

Two Docs Brewing Co:  This is definite a hot spot in Lubbock, TX. You can find local artists playing live music and during the day it’s a family-friendly atmosphere. 

Check out their games and while the kids include a craft soda, step into our tap room and have an expert help you find the perfect craft beer for your specific tastes.  The entire family will have a great time. 

Mano Negra Lubbock: This is a mini brewery located in Cactus Alley. Daniel brews his own craft beer and if it’s your first time in Cactus Alley check out the other businesses there. 

They also have great Sangria that you will want to check out. His craft cocktails are some of the best flavor combinations. His website and social media will give you more details.  If you are visiting Lubbock during the week, check out their salsa lessons. No need for a partner, there are plenty of solo dancers. 

The Brewery LBK: Located in the heart of download, this eclectic environment is just fun. They have a dog-friendly patio and are a hit for those who love craft beer tasting. Check out their website for more information and upcoming events.

Whip’d Pies

If you visited Lubbock years ago, you might have heard of the Pie Bar. Well, the original owners merged with Whip’d pies.  

They create custom pie flavors weekly and are the perfect small dessert after dinner. They are across from HEB and the pies are delicious. 

Definitely check out their social media as they post new flavors weekly, and you will love their desserts. They make some delicious pies. 

Holly Hop

If you have a sweet tooth that craves ice cream, you will want to visit Holly Hop. It’s one of the first things everyone says to do when you come to Lubbock. 

​They have some of the best homemade ice cream here in West Texas.  It’s more than the ice cream though, it is like stepping back into a 50’s diner. The pink booths and memorabilia will remind you of an old diner. 

​The great part is they also have a great lunch menu. Soups, sandwiches and salads are on the menu. We included a link to their Instagram where you ca n see their menu and current offers. They also have private rooms if you need a party place. 

Here are a few other dining options that are classic West Texas food restaurants. You can’t go wrong with either of these Tex-Mex options.

Rosa’s Cafe

Most people in Lubbock probably visit Rosa’s Cafe at least monthly. Whether you check out Taco Tuesday or simply find your favorite food.  They make their own tortillas, which you will see happening as you eat.  This upscale casual restaurant is delicious. 

Rosa’s Cafe takes pride in its signature offerings, the beef and chicken fajitas, meticulously marinated and expertly grilled over authentic West Texas mesquite wood, imparting them with a unique and delectable flavor.

Taco Villa

Taco Villa has been in West Texas for over 20 years. You can find them all over town and from 2-5 pm is happy hour where their drinks are 1/2 priced. 

The menu is Tex Mex with burritos and tacos the main stay. Each combo comes with fries. Tacos have a red sauce that is delicious, but you can request for it to be taken off if you don’t like red sauce in burritos. My mom prefers it this way. 

They also have a family pack which is great for feeding a crowd. If you are visiting Lubbock with a crowd, this is definitely a great option.

Personally, I always have them add cherry flavor into my Coke Zero and love their tacos and burritos. They are a quick and easy lunch or dinner. 

Braums

This is my go to place for chicken strips and ice cream. The unique thing about them is there farm to market concept. 

All of the stores are within 330 miles of their dairy. Most restaurants also have a fresh market, so if you simply need a few items, it’s a great place to pick up both lunch or dinner and some fresh fruit and vegetables. 

You can taste the freshness in their food and ice cream. They have a great kid’s menu and their prices are super affordable. If you are eating on the cheap, this is a great place to check out. 

Lubbock also has all the usual fast food joints. You can literally find food, no matter where you are staying or what part of town you find yourself.
