Rudy and Paco offer a delightful blend of Central and South American cuisine with a Southern flavor that has beckoned foodies from near and far. It’s one of our favorite restaurants when we visit Galveston.

We are a meat and potato family but if you have someone in your family who is a vegetarian, they have some great options.

Their food is delicious and our favorite stop if we are going to the Opera House for a show. Do note there is a dress code for dinner.

History of Rudy and Paco

The locals will tell you that Rudy and Paco has been a stable of the community for many years. Even after hurricanes and natural disasters, their beloved Rudy and Paco has always come back.

They are located at 2028 Postoffice St, Galveston, TX 77550. They are open 6 days per week starting at 11 am. There is a dress code for dinner so make sure and get that information on their website.

It’s fine to wear shorts for lunch, but dinner is more up class.

Furthermore, they are located right next to the Grand Opera House, which is also a great place to visit in Galveston. Make it a night with dinner and a show.

Rudy & Paco features grilled seafood and steak with a South and Central American sabor. My dad is a meat and potato guy and wasn’t sure he would like it but was willing to give it a try.

He was singing their praises when we left. Here’s what we had:

Appetizer

We decided after asking the server to try the Empanada Mixtas which is a South American turnover. They were delicious. The sauce was to die for.

Dinner

I had the Pollo Carmelo. It was SO good. It is chicken in a lemon sauce with some goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. It was so fulfilling and the chicken was cooked to perfection.

My dad had the Salmon A La Parrilla. It has Salmon over a mango habanero sauce. He loves spicy fish and loved it.

Dinner was delicious and if you have a vegetarian in your party, there are vegetarian options so a little bit of something for everyone.

As we waited on food, I looked at everyone’s plates. It would have been fun to just sample everything on the menu. I don’t think you will be disappointed no matter what you choose.

They have great southern food like Meatloaf sandwich, a good variety of soups and salad and some of the most tender chicken and beef you will find. Don’t forget the fish options.
